The colors and layered, shipwrecked style of the necklaces are taken from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea. The Leeward Islands are islands in the West Indies on the eastern edge of that sea, and their name comes from their proximity relative to the prevailing winds. Dyed chalcedony stones dangle in two lines from a tangle of baby blue seedbeads and Swarovski glass pearls, touched with the sparkle of Swarovski crystal as well. By itself, this necklace is a fun, pastel piece that speaks of lazy, long evenings with some cool beverages at hand, even if beachside is more a state of mind than actual location. When worn with its mermaid companion of darker blue and green seedbeads looping around shell drops, it takes on a different edge - a little wilder and less predictable, much like the sea itself. Both necklaces have sterling silver toggle clasps and they may be worn separately or together. The chalcedony necklace is approximately 20" and the shell drop necklace is roughly 23 1/2".

Care & cleaning: Beading cord may be kinked or broken through hard jerks or severed through prolonged exposure to rough or sharp edges; store necklace flat when not in use to prevent stretching or kinking cord. Clean with warm soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The delicate nature of the beaded layers and loops means these necklaces should be kept out of reach of curious hands. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.

The necklaces' lengths were designed to fall comfortably about mid-chest, fitting easily over a swimsuit cover up or other loose dress. They would also work well with most casual tops.
