We describe ourselves through dichotomies, such as whether we are lead
with our "head" or "heart". Yet such distinctions
lose force in meaning because living requires both and each is really
the same as the other but in a different way. Just as weight and volumetric
measures of eight ounces and one cup are subtly different, they generally
describe the same material. Though thinking and feeling are different,
they contribute to and describe the quality of our lives in much the same way.
The analogy of head:heart::eight ounces:one cup represents this equivalence
in a watercolor design under a glass cabochon on a copper disc pendant. The
1" pendant hangs from this 18" necklace of satin cords in ombre shades of blue to
orange and back again, secured by a copper toggle clasp.
