In the Zen koan A Muddy Road, two monks are traveling and one helps
a young woman cross a river (contact with women considered unwise and dangerous).
They continue traveling until the other monk asks why he did it, to which the
first says, "I left the girl there. Are you still carrying her?" The
analogy woman:river::burden:journey considers the woman carried across the
river as a burden on a journey. What burdens do we carry that are unnecessary?
That can be set down on the other side? The copper pendant has a watercolor
design ringed with seedbeads around a glass cabochon. The 17" necklace
is made of Czech glass rounds and contrasting seedbeads and fastened with
a sterling silver toggle.
