The majesty of brilliant orange light through blue-purple storm clouds is the inspiration for
this long, colorful necklace. Orange sapphire and tanzanite are the glorious gemstones providing
the sparkling color, interspaced with warm 14kt gold-fill beads and hammered pendant. Although
sapphire is best known as blue, it can be a wide range of color, including yellow, orange, green
and pink. Sapphire is corundum, an aluminum oxide mineral that has been prized as a decorative stone
since ancient times. It is found in alluvial deposits since it is harder than the metamorphic rock it forms
in and withstands weathering to a greater degree. Tanzanite is a blue-purple variety of zoisite,
which is a "sister" silicate, meaning
that an oxygen atom is shared between two silica tetrahedra and these occur within a larger aluminum
oxide matrix. As the name suggests, most tanzanite comes from Tanzania, and it is the most valuable of
the zoisites. Zoisites are grouped with the feldspars since both are aluminosilicates with comparable ratios
of silicone and oxygen, though their crystalline structure is different.

The narrower beading cord is more vulnerable to hard tugs so it's recommended to keep this out of
reach of young hands. As with
all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
