Peruvian opal is a blue common opal found near the Andes mountains in Peru. It is a translucent stone and may include dark inclusions, such as in these gemstones, or be free of inclusions. The cost varies depending on color and pattern, with larger faceted teardrop gemstones being comparable to other semi-precious gemstones such as good quality amethyst or citrine. These gemstones reminded me of the milky blue-green and dark patterns of kelp on view at the Monterey aquarium. I combined these with dyed freshwater coin pearls to continue the sea theme and added the brushed silver hexagonal beads thinking of viewing window designs. It's secured with a sterling silver hook & eye clasp for ease of use. Cost: $164.00 USD
