Fluorite is a commonly occurring mineral with uncommon properties: it fluoresces in blue light
and is the only mineral with four planes of perfect cleavage. Fluorite is often found with
metallic ores as it forms through hydrothermal deposition. Yet, fluorite is probably best
known for its distinctive coloring of bright blue-green to purple and yellow with banding.
The tumbled polished nuggets in this 17" necklace range from deep purple to pale
aqua, and they flow fluidly thanks to the strong silk cord onto which they are strung.
The use of hand-knotted pure silk cord is not practical for necklaces with large beads
or beads with hard or sharp edges, but when silk cord can be used the amazing drape of
the necklace is worth the effort. Clasp is a sterling silver toggle.
