The head vs. heart question is a popular theme; from the conflicted character of Shakespeare's Hamlet to Austen's Dashwood sisters to Scott and Fran in "Strictly Ballroom" the idea of leading with one or the other - thinking vs. feeling - intrigues us. As the name of the necklace implies, the point is equivalence; just as eight ounces is the same as one cup, though in different units, the head and the heart are equivalent, though in different language. The analogy of eight ounces:one cup::head:heart is layered over a spirodoodle on watercolor paper. The pendant is sterling silver with an adhesive glaze to protect the paper insert from wear and weather, and it's paired with a Hanah Silk™ hand-dyed ribbon.
