Calaveras are decorative sugar skulls used in the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos)
celebrations to pay respect to and remember family and friends who have died. Some skulls
are gifts meant to be eaten, though skulls with more elaborate decorations are not.
As the holiday has been commercialized, sugar skull designs appear in more forms, including
the sterling silver charms in these 1.5" drop earrings. The stamped charms feature a
simple design, and they are combined with green patina brass ovals and Czech glass beads
with a fine luster. The earrings use sterling silver components and french hook ear wires.
