Olive green Baltic amber and antiqued silver are the colors for a somber wood, and
the wood elf as its protector. Three cabochons of amber are set in a sterling silver
Celtic knot, and the pendant hangs from a 4mm thick rolo chain of silver-plated brass.
Amber is not a mineral, since it has an organic origin and has no internal arrangement of atoms.
As the name implies, Baltic amber is from the Baltic region, and it differs from other
amber in that it contains succinic acid, an alkalinizing acid present in the body.
Amber is generally golden yellow to orange red, but it can rarely take on greenish hues, like
the cabochons in this pendant.
