Glowing Mexican fire opal shines with delicious peach and cream color in this 24" necklace made of gemstone rondelles and delicate Japanese seedbead glass. The necklace fastens literally with a snap, thanks to a small but strong 14kt gold-fill magnetic clasp. The clasp makes it easy to wear the necklace as a multi-wrap bracelet as well, for great color and versatility. Fire opal forms when water seeps into silica-rich lava, filling its seams and hollows. Under great heat and pressure, the lava traps water within itself as sun-bright droplets. The gemstones are spaced with 24kt gold lined Miyuki glass seedbeads, prized for their outstanding color and uniformity. A stunning accessory for casual wear or an evening out.

Care & cleaning: Clean with a gentle, pH neutral soap and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on metal. Store the necklace flat to prevent the natural silk beading cord from stretching. Opals are like hardy living plants; because their structure and brilliance rely upon water, they require a drink now and then to prevent cracking.

Opal is a softer gemstone and care should be taken to avoid hard impacts which can crack the stones. For this reason, it's recommended to keep this item out of young hands. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
