There are strong opinions when it comes to these reproductive organs - ovaries,
fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina - and yet they are internal organs. Do we get so excited
about spleens? Gallbladders? Kidneys? Lungs? Even hearts or brains? So much anger
and division over simple biology. People have their opinions, but even as my son
learned in first grade, opinions are not facts. This necklace is for those who
would simply like to claim their internal organs, and what happens with those organs,
as their own and plan their lives accordingly.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have noted that one of the most cost effective
investments a country can make in its future is voluntary family planning. To that end,
they are working to bring access to high-quality contraceptive information, services and
supplies to 120 million women and girls in the poorest countries. Closer to home, Planned
Parenthood offers access to similar information and services. Regardless of how one feels,
the fact of making it possible for women to plan when they have children seems like a
wise choice and worth supporting.

Obviously, the organs featured in the necklace are not to scale, but the combination balances
aesthetics versus accuracy. There are two small freshwater pearls for the ovaries, two curved
sterling silver tubes for the fallopian tubes, a radiant oval shell for the uterus and
freshwater pearl for the vagina. It's about 2" in width and 1" in height, attached to
sterling silver chain and fastened with a lobster clasp.

The silver tubes are thin-walled and can become distorted with only moderate tugs,
so it would be best to keep this out of younger hands. As with
all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
