Joie de Vivre jewelry

Although the Japanese Tila glass seedbeads have the look of antique copper, they are coated glass beads from the Miyuki Company of Japan. Miyuki is also the maker of the popular Delica glass seedbeads that come in a dizzying array of colors and coatings. The company values beauty, and this shows in all their products, from these half-tile Tila beads to the numerous other seedbeads used in my designs. The peridot faceted top-drilled beads are high grade gemstones, as evident from the uniform, saturated color and inclusion-free clarity. Peridot is the gem quality variety of the mineral olivine, inferred to be a major component of the Earth's mantle and present in meteors and some lunar rocks. It has been mined for over 3500 years in some locations (Zebirget in the Red Sea) and popular with royalty and clergy throughout the ages. The combination of sparking teardrops and copper-like rectangular beads recalls the earlier days of mining with pans and other basic tools to search for glittering treasure. The beads are fastened to thin sterling silver cable chain and small lobster clasp to complete the delicate but strong look.

Length: necklace - 17"

  • faceted peridot gemstone beads
  • Japanese Tila glass half-tile seedbeads
  • sterling silver beads
  • sterling silver small cable chain and lobster clasp
  • Soft Touch light duty nylon coated stainless steel cord (10 lb. load test)

Care & cleaning: Beading cord may be kinked or broken through hard jerks or severed through prolonged exposure to rough or sharp edges; store necklace flat when not in use to prevent stretching or kinking cord. Clean with warm soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The thin sterling silver chain and narrower beading cord are more susceptible to damage for hard tugs so it's recommended to keep this necklace out of reach of young hands. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.

This 17" necklace has a small, delicate profile and strong colors. It can be worn with a variety of higher to moderate necklines including under collared shirts, though will likely look out of proportion with deep scoop necks or V-necks. Given the smaller profile, care should be taken when pairing it with patterns which might overwhelm it.
