Although the Japanese Tila glass seedbeads have the look of antique copper, they are coated glass beads from the Miyuki Company of Japan. Miyuki is also the maker of the popular Delica glass seedbeads that come in a dizzying array of colors and coatings. The company values beauty, and this shows in all their products, from these half-tile Tila beads to the numerous other seedbeads used in my designs. The peridot faceted top-drilled beads are high grade gemstones, as evident from the uniform, saturated color and inclusion-free clarity. Peridot is the gem quality variety of the mineral olivine, inferred to be a major component of the Earth's mantle and present in meteors and some lunar rocks. It has been mined for over 3500 years in some locations (Zebirget in the Red Sea) and popular with royalty and clergy throughout the ages. The combination of sparking teardrops and copper-like rectangular beads recalls the earlier days of mining with pans and other basic tools to search for glittering treasure. The beads are fastened to thin sterling silver cable chain and small lobster clasp to complete the delicate but strong look. Cost: $124.00 USD
