Indigo is a rich deep blue that, as a dye, originally came from tropical plants in the
Indian subcontinent. Lapis lazuli and azurite gemstones also naturally show this
intense hue; in fact, both lapis and azurite were ground into pigment for use in
paints. Azurite is a softer, uncommon mineral forming in copper rich ores that is often
found with malachite or chrysocholla. Many azurite beads are assembled and stabilized
with resin, such as these, for economy and strength. Turquoise also forms in copper
rich ores and is generally stabilized for strength. These 22" and 24" necklaces
can be worn together or separately for a terrific addition of indigo to a wardrobe. The turquoise
and lapis rondelle necklace
can also be worn as a multi-wrap bracelet. Sterling silver toggle clasps.
Cost: $51.00 USD (lapis + turquoise)
Cost: $45.00 USD (azurite + moonstone)
