The blue topaz shimmers like the blue depths of a pool, and for good reason: topaz is highly refractive (meaning it bends light), much like water. Topaz is also a hard gemstone with a Mohs hardness of 8, only corundum and diamond are harder. The blue topaz in this sterling silver pendant has been irradiated and/or heat treated to attain the saturated blue color, and this is a common practice with topaz. Multiple strands of coated stainless steel cord are gathered together in the silver plate torsion clasp to create a cool 17" necklace, a perfect gift for a swimmer or anyone inspired by cool blue hues.

Materials:

  • blue topaz cabochon set in sterling silver
  • coated stainless steel cord
  • silver plate torsion clasp

Care & cleaning: Clean with warm soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The stainless steel cord and pendant should be robust to most tugs and pulls, but very hard ones may distort the cord. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
