The head vs. heart question is a popular theme; from the conflicted character of Shakespeare's Hamlet to Austen's Dashwood sisters to Scott and Fran in "Strictly Ballroom" the idea of leading with one or the other - thinking vs. feeling - intrigues us. As the name of the necklace implies, the point is equivalence; just as eight liquid ounces is the same as one cup, though in different units, the head and the heart are equivalent, though in different language. The analogy of eight ounces:one cup::head:heart is printed on graphic paper. The pendant is solid brass with resin to protect the paper insert from wear and weather, and it's paired with a hand-dyed silk ribbon.
