The fluorite in the Fluorite No. 3 Bovary necklace
is fantastic, and I used it in this scaled-down version of its flambuoyant relation.
Fluorite is a simple halide mineral which is formed when a metal [think periodic table] combines
with a halogen element such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine. Fluorite can be
colorless and transparent, but jewelry components tend to showcase the terrific range of
color shown by this mineral; from deep purples and teals to pale yellows. Banded stones,
like the lower stone in the necklace, are a variety popularly known as Blue John, probably
a distortion of the French bleu jaune, for the "blue yellow" bands within
				the stones.
				Cost: $46.00 USD

Fluorite is a softer mineral so
it's a good idea to wear and store the piece in a way to reduce risk of drops and other impacts. As with
all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
