Smooth cool style is the theme of this 21" necklace featuring rectangles of green aventurine and amazonite rounds. Aventurine is a microcrystalline quartz, meaning crystalline structure is present but not visible to the eye, with inclusions of mica for a little sparkle. That sparkle is muted in these matte stones whose mottled appearance is better characterized by the white inclusions within the green gemstones. Amazonite is a blue-green feldspar named after the Amazon river though most deposits of the gemstones are not found in the region. The bright blue to blue-green color is from trace amounts of lead in an otherwise potassium-rich composition. Theses round beads with uniform saturated color are generally the most desirable and valuable of the amazonite gemstones, and they are highlighted nicely by Bali silver rondelles. The clasp is a sterling silver toggle.
