Zoisite is a sorosilicate, meaning it shares an oxygen atom between silica tetrahedra, and its hardness
and ratio of silica to oxygen make it closer to the feldspar category, and zoisite can show
vertical striations like one sees in feldspars through their crystalline structure is different.
The most common zoisite jewelry material is ruby zoisite, such as in this 16"-18" necklace,
thulite, a pink variety, and tanzanite. As the name implies, ruby zoisite is a mix of red ruby and green
zoisite and it's generally found on Tanzania. It's common for black hornblende inclusions to be present,
leading to colorful and dramatic gemstones. Several opaque ruby nuggets and freshwater coin pearls finish
the necklace, and the overall length can be adjusted using the sterling silver S-hook clasp with the
larger links of the sterling silver chain. The gemstones are hand-knotted with silk thread for superior
drape and movement.
