black-and-white necklace. Rutilated quartz is a quartz variety with thin, needle like
inclusions of rutile, a titanium oxide, though black tourmaline can be encased in quartz in a
similar manner, as in the faceted rondelles here. Obsidian squares are smooth, solid black,
and colored freshwater pearls and brushed silver provide the darker, gleaming
silver elements. The combination is like a slim silver-grey bough in winter, dormant and
dreaming of the warmer light and longer days of spring. Sterling silver hook and eye clasp.
