Unlike daughter of atlantis, with it's larger, more regal
silhouette, the second cousin in that mythical realm is more fluid and versatile; less striking
at first glance but lovely in the details. Atlantis is and always was a fictional island in one
of Plato's allegories, used to illustrate the poor choice of siding against Athens
(and the gods), and so sinking in ignominy. It was taken up in the Renaissance as a
lost civilization representing a utopian lifestyle, and it's been a part of our imagination
ever since. Petal pearls are formed in the same way as regular cultured pearls - nacre secreted in
layers from mollusk shells - but without a shaped nucleus, which leads to the irregular freeform
shapes. These petal pearls are interspaced with delicate seed beads on a knotted silk thread for
a graceful look and outstanding drape.
