Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet
eating her curds and whey
along came a spider
who sat down beside her
and frightened Miss Muffet away

The Mother Goose collection of fairy tales and nursery rhymes has its roots in 17th century England with characters such as Old Mother Hubbard and French fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella. Little Miss Muffet appeared in print in 1805 in Songs for the Nursery and found its way into the Mother Goose collection. This necklace features a sterling silver spider and toadstool tucked among wood beads and coral beads surrounding moonstone. The design is meant to be playful and fun though stylish too.

Length: necklace - 17"

Materials:

  • carved boxwood beads
  • stained bayong wood beads
  • palmwood beads
  • dyed coral beads
  • rainbow moonstone beads
  • Japanese glass beads
  • sterling silver beads
  • sterling silver charms
  • sterling silver hook & eye clasp
  • Power Pro moderate duty braided Spectra Fiber™ (30 lb. load test)

Care & cleaning: Beading cord may be kinked or broken through hard jerks or severed through prolonged exposure to rough or sharp edges; store necklace flat when not in use to prevent stretching or kinking cord. Clean with warm soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The bead thread is strong and the beads are tough, but the dangling charms and nature of the design (rings of stones) make the necklace vulnerable to targeted tugs. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.

This 17" necklace is versatile and can be worn with casual tops (crew necks, V-necks) and higher-neck blouses or deeper V collared shirts. It is a larger scale necklace with bolder design elements so care should be taken when it comes to pairing with patterns and other jewelry pieces.
