Lovely jadeite twists are the focal element of these 2" dangle earrings with
14kt gold-fire earwires. They are accompanied by rectangular freshwater pearls
and dyed potato freshwater pearls for balance. Nephrite jade and jadeite are both
considered "jade", though they different minerals. Jadeite, a pyroxene, is more granular
than fibrous in appearance than nephrite, an amphibole with waxy luster, and jadeite
is the type of jade treasured by Mesoamericans (Olmecs, Mayans, Aztecs, Incas).
Jadeite was used in masks and ritual items, and a piece of jadeite
was placed in the mouth of a deceased nobleman to serve as his heart in the afterlife.

The wearer of the earrings is likely to yelp before any damage is done to the earrings from
various tugs and pulls. If the pearls and jade twists are bent out of alignment, they may be
gently straightened (14kt gold-fill wire is pliable and should be handled with care). As with
