Chrysoprase is a translucent, apple green variety of chalcedony whose color comes from
trace amounts of nickel in the microcrystalline quartz structure. The freeform slice in
this 18" gold necklace is from Queensland, Australia, and it contains the gemstone
within the host matrix. Chalcedony forms in cracks when low-temperature silica-rich waters
flow through pre-existing rocks. A 1 1/2" golden ring encircles the gemstone, and these
hang from an 18" 14kt gold-fill satellite chain with spring ring clasp.
