In its natural state, topaz is yellow to sherry colored and can be confused with citrine. However, colorless or pale yellow topaz turns pale to deep blue with heat treatment and/or irradition, both effects which are permanent (no fading with time or exposure to strong light). Blue topaz can be described as "sky blue", "Swiss blue", or "London blue" which roughly corresponds to the depth of color, with London blue being the darkest blue. Although sky blue topaz strands are fairly economical, high quality Swiss blue and London blue topaz can be quite valuable. The London blue topaz faceted gemstones in this necklace are in that category; their color depth and clarity are top grade. Hill Tribe silver hammered beads, stamped spacers and a delicate beaded strand mix with the gemstones and dyed freshwater pearls for a look both elegant and individual. We may be separated from watery origins and feel the awkwardness of land locomotion and social settings, but at least there's beautiful jewelry to wear. The lobster clasp with extension chain adjusts the length from close to the neck in a choker style to a longer princess length.

Materials:

  • London blue topaz gemstone beads
  • dyed freshwater pearls
  • Hill Tribe silver beads
  • sterling silver beads
  • sterling silver chain and lobster clasp
  • Power Pro moderate duty braided Spectra Fiber&trade (30 lb. load test)

Care & cleaning: Beading cord may be kinked or broken through hard jerks or severed through prolonged exposure to rough or sharp edges; store necklace flat when not in use to prevent stretching or kinking cord. Clean with warm soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The high silver purity of the strand of small Hill Tribe silver beads make these beads softer and more susceptible to damage so it's recommended to keep this out of reach of young hands. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.

This adjustable 15.5"-17" necklace looks terrific with a higher scoop neck or moderate V-neck, any neckline really that provides some space around the collar bone without being too low for the necklace to seem out of proportion. The elegant but understated style means it will work equally well for work attire or evening wear.
