The head vs. heart question is a popular theme; from the conflicted character of Shakespeare's Hamlet to Austen's Dashwood sisters to Scott and Fran in "Strictly Ballroom" the idea of leading with one or the other - thinking vs. feeling - intrigues us. As the name of the necklace implies, the point is equivalence; just as eight liquid ounces is the same as one cup, though in different units, the head and the heart are equivalent, though in different language. Colorful Czech glass beads sandwich the beige leather link with the analogy eight ounces:one cup::head:heart on paper with an adhesive glaze to protect it from wear and weather, and these are paired with smooth, warm-hued greywood coin beads in a distinctive 16" necklace.

Length: necklace - 16"

Materials:

  • leather link
  • watercolor paper with glaze
  • Czech pressed glass beads
  • greywood coin beans
  • sterling silver beads
  • sterling silver hook & eye clasp
  • Soft Flex nylon coated stainless steel cord (10 lb. load test)

Care & cleaning: Beading cord may be kinked or broken through hard jerks or severed through prolonged exposure to rough or sharp edges; store necklace flat when not in use to prevent stretching or kinking cord. Clean with warm soapy washcloth (do not submerge) and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The necklace can withstand tugs and pulls, but care should be taken with the leather link; it can be damaged with determined pulling. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.
