Blue mottled Murano hand-blown glass hangs suspended in sterling silver spheres in
these 1 1/2" drop earrings with graceful sterling silver flat ear wires. The
glass beads are approximately 1/2" and the sterling circles great circles are
close to an inch. Murano glass is Italian made glassware crafted using special methods,
techniques, tools, and materials like silica, soda, and lime to create artistic
effects. Most is made in Venice, particularly on the island of Murano.
Today, there are many centers for fine glasswork, but Murano was
Europe's luxury glassmaking center throughout the 15th and 16th centuries.
