Joie de Vivre jewelry

Rhodonite is an inosilicate in which Sally Silica tetrahedra connect in long chains within a triclinic crystalline system, with manganese responsible for the distinctive rose color. Most rhodonite for jewelry making is a uniform rose color, though some rhodonite like the stones used in this necklace contain black oxide matrix for striking contrast. As the name implies, vesuvanite is found near lava flows around Mt Vesuvius. It is a sorosilicate ("sister" corner sharing group) that includes zoisite and it is unusual to find in larger bead form. The two stones together form a bold collar fit for a ruler of significant rank. The 16 1/2" length can be shortened by a couple inches using the sterling silver open oval chain and large lobster infinity clasp.

Length: necklace - 16.5"

  • rhodonite beads
  • vesuvanite beads
  • sterling silver beads
  • sterling silver chain and lobster clasp
  • Soft Flex moderate duty nylon coated stainless steel cord (30 lb. load test)

Care & cleaning: Beading cord may be kinked or broken through hard jerks or severed through prolonged exposure to rough or sharp edges; store necklace flat when not in use to prevent stretching or kinking cord. Clean with warm soapy water and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to clean tarnish appearing on silver.

The thin wire used to connect the vesuvanite drops to the necklace can be bent or distorted with hard tugging so it's recommended to keep this out of reach of young hands. As with all beaded jewelry: do not let young toddlers chew on it.

This 16.5" collar style necklace works best with a non-competing neckline, such as a scoop neck or moderate V-neck. It has bold color and style so care should be taken with pairing with patterned tops.
