The dark matrix and unusual trapezoid shape of the serpentine stones give this 16 1/2"
necklace and 1.5" earrings a decidedly reptilian look, though there is nothing insincere
about the jewelry set. The phrase "crocodile tears" has been traced back to a
16th century archbishop, and it's also found in Shakespeare's Othello. Interestingly,
"crocodile" is Greek in origin and translates to "worm of the stones", which
is perhaps not a terrific image but relates well to the necklace. Bright green chrysoprase rounds
and sterling silver beads separate the "crocodile tears".
