I learned to take photographs with a SLR camera, which meant I had to think about whether I wanted to set
aperture priority or shutter speed priority, and I still tend to think of photographs in these terms.
Depth of field requires smaller apertures and consequently longer shutter speeds, and depending on the speed
of the film, motion blurring could be an issue. I love the convenience and consistency of my digital cameras,
but I'll admit I miss the mechanical tuning and sense of creation I used to find while taking photos.
A blink of a human eye is quite slow by photography standards; edges tend to get blurry for a 50mm lens around
1/15 second without a tripod, and a blink is about 1/3 second. The cards were designed with that one
moment in mind, pausing the light or movement in its journey inexorably onward.
